I know the pain of memories lost, and the ecstasy of memories found and renewed.

In 1992 I was told that old 8mm film home movies of our family
by Joyce Medforth in the 1950s and '60s got sent to the dump.
The pain of that loss felt like a sword thru my heart.
That pain is why I eventually began in 2002 to help other people save their old home movie memories.

But, I could not give up hope for my own family films, and after 16 years of searching,
in late 2008 I finally found 21 minutes of those old home movies of us from long ago.
thanks to George & his wife Janice Cann, and Bob Elliott, the 'boys' were nephews of Joyce Medforth,
which I and family watched at Christmas '08 for the first time in more than 40 years.
And I finally knew the ecstasy of reliving those memories.

It is quite a thrill, and shock, 54 years later, to see a movie of yourself when you were just 4 years old.

PLEASE do NOT try to watch your old movies on your 30-60 year old projector.

You could rip your old films to shreds trying to watch them on your 30-60 year old projector.
It's like taking a car out of the garage after 60 years and expecting the brakes et cetera to still work.
